Gary Hudiburgh Announces Candidacy for South Dakota House District 04
Local Millwright and Nonprofit Executive Director Seeks to Serve Rural Communities
GARY, SOUTH DAKOTA – Gary W. Hudiburgh III, a local millwright and Executive Director of SotaSoDak, today announced his candidacy for the South Dakota House of Representatives in District 04 for the 2026 election.
Hudiburgh, a resident of Gary, South Dakota, brings a diverse background in both skilled trades and community service. As a working millwright since 2018, he has worked on critical infrastructure projects throughout the region, including nuclear and fossil generation facilities. His work has taken him to job sites across South Dakota and neighboring states, where he has maintained an exemplary safety record.
"I understand the challenges facing working families in rural South Dakota because I face them myself every day," said Hudiburgh. "My experience as a millwright has shown me the importance of good jobs, safe working conditions, and policies that support our local communities."
In addition to his work in the trades, Hudiburgh serves as Executive Director, Pastor, and Founder of SotaSoDak, a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides technical skills training and mentorship to rural South Dakota youth. The organization currently serves 15 youth annually, helping prepare them for careers in skilled trades and other technical fields.
Hudiburgh is a member of the Sutton Leadership Institute, where he has developed his leadership skills alongside other South Dakota community leaders. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
His campaign platform focuses on Agriculture, Prosperity, and Education – three pillars he believes are essential to the future of rural South Dakota.
The Republican primary for District 04 will be held in June 2026, with the general election following in November 2026.
